MacLeod Judges Competition of International Graduate Students

On July 9, 2010, SMM President Charlie MacLeod was part of a three-member panel that judged the 2010 Global Operations Management Presentations at Stony Brook University. These competitive presentations are made by teams of international graduate students at their completion of the MS in Technical Systems Management program offered through the University’s Department of Technology and Society. This marks the fourth year that SMM executives have participated in judging this competition.

According to MacLeod, “The ideas and business plans that the students presented were both highly innovative and very engaging, and I was pleased with all of them.” This year’s winning presentation was based upon an advanced “Air Power Rechargeable Zinc-Air Battery” concept capable of providing 40-50% in additional efficiency over market batteries currently installed in electric automobiles.
