Southside Hospital, part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, needs to recruit over 90 new nurses in just three months to meet their expansion goals.
SMM responded with a campaign that effectively branded Southside as the region’s preferred nursing employer. A sophisticated, computer-based inquiry handling and scheduling system provided 24/7 access, and was promoted through print and radio advertising, as well as direct mail to nurses’ homes using state licensing records. Nearly 500 nurses were interviewed, 98 qualified candidates were hired, and the scheduling system provided Southside with a database of interested nurses to meet future recruitment needs.
